Elias Bassani

Hello! 👋

I’m Elias Bassani, a Computer Science researcher specializing in AI, Information Retrieval, and Natural Language Processing. I am currently a Member of Technical Staff at Seltz, where I work on building a next-generation search engine for AI agents and LLM-based systems.

Previously, I was an AI Safety Researcher at the Cybersecurity and Digital Technologies Unit of the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre, where I focused on Trustworthy AI.

I earned my Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Milano-Bicocca. My doctoral research explored neural approaches to Personalized Search.

My work has been published in leading Information Retrieval and Natural Language Processing venues (EMNLP, NAACL, SIGIR, CIKM, ECIR) and Q1 journals, including Information Fusion and ACM Transactions on Information Systems.

I have also authored several open-source Python tools, with a strong emphasis on efficiency, usability, and reproducibility.
